Sotis Filippides
Sotis had been working with crank clay for many years. His work is thrown and the simplicity of the shapes is the first priority. The surface of the work is rough textured. He uses a lot of copper and iron oxides, trying to achieve a natural look. His inspiration for the shapes and texture is drawn from nature (trees, dry leaves and roots). Although somewhat heavy in appearance, the work is surprisingly light in weight.
